We understand that there are times when organizations may need to downsize.
Although unemployment services are now handled directly through a special state online service, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion can help you and your employees in many ways before and after employment ends with your company. Customized Outplacement Serivces are available through state and federal funding and are designed to meet the specific needs of employers and displaced staff services are available to employers and displaced workers.
Onsite Employee Briefings
Rather than send your displaced staff out the door without the necessary tools for re-employment, call us to arrange for a one-on-one or group briefing to cover unemployment, re-training resources, job search tools and community support. All requests are kept confidential. Most employers schedule these briefings immediately after layoff notification or before employees leave. These briefings allow your affected employees the opportunity to meet with our team in a familiar environment. For large events, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion can set up a lab at your place of business or another convenient location or dispatch our Mobile Resource Units (MRUs) equipped with computer workstations. These labs provide the resources for your impacted staff to register for work through the Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM) and file claims for Reemployment Assistance (formerly Unemployment Compensation). Spanish speaking staff are available upon request.
From resume writing to interviewing skills to job search tips, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion can arrange special workshops for displaced workers, based on their needs and interests. Workshops can take place at our CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion career centers, at your place of business or at another convenient location. In addition to programs customized for your company, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion offers a full calendar of free workshops focusing on re-employment success.
CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion has the tools to help your displaced staff determine their level of capabilities and employability. Assessments range from the evaluation of basic adult skills to career assessments to the identification of transferrable skills. One of the newest assessment tools is Florida Ready to Work, offered on a regular basis at our centers. This valuable tool measures Reading for Understanding, Applied Math and Locating Information.
Depending on circumstances, potential employment opportunities and availability of funds, displaced workers may qualify for scholarships to help train or re-train them for jobs in targeted industry occupations that have been approved as high skill and high wage by the state.
When displaced workers register with EFM, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion is able to search online job postings and network with area employers to identify potential matches for employment. If out-of-area placement is desired, our team has several tools to uncover opportunities outside the region. In some instances, employers have come from out-of-area to set up interviews and/or attend job fairs.
Career seeekers have access to a library of employment reference materials at our CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion career centers. Many of these resources are also available via our Mobile Resource Units (MRUs). They can use our computers with high speed internet, copiers, and fax machines to conduct job search activities. The centers are open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with family-friendly hours available. Check the About Us section for center locations and directions.
For large-scale layoffs, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion can design a special job fair just for your impacted employees in order to match them with interested employers. For smaller events, we will let your staff know about upcoming job fairs and how to adequately prepare.
For dislocated professional employees, CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion offers Refocus and Reconnect workshops through its affiliate, Talent Center. During these multi-day workshops, participants learn how to deal with emotional and financial issues, fine-tune their resumes, practice interviewing and zero in on the best possible employment fit for their skills and interests. Eligible career seekers may also join our Professional Networking Group (PNG) for professional development, job-placement assistance and support.
