OCALA, Fla. (April 18, 2023) – CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion has teamed up once again with Marion County Public Schools to host what will be the area’s eighth Youth Job Fair on Thursday, April 27 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion Auditorium, 2232 NE Jacksonville Road in Ocala.
Exclusively for 16-to-24-year-olds, the in-person job fair is for first-time job seekers and future high school and post-secondary graduates seeking full- or part-time employment, whether permanent, temporary, or just for the summer.
There is no charge to attend, but job seekers are asked to register in advance at bit.ly/YOUTHJOBS.
Dale French, executive vice president for CareerSource CLM, said that area businesses are encouraged to take advantage of the job fair to help them hire their “next generation” workforce.
“By taking part in the job fair, businesses will find older youth and young adults who are eager to learn about their job opportunities and who are ready to work and excited to earn a paycheck.”
To date, the following businesses are scheduled to take part: AutoZone Distribution Center, AutoZone Retail, Best Buy/Geek Squad, Brookdale Senior Living, Capital City Bank, Chewy, Chick-fil-A, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, CSS Mechanical, Earthscapes Unlimited, Exckerd Connects, FedEx Ground, Fidelity Manufacturing, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches – Camping Services, Hilton Ocala, Hospice of Marion County, Marion County Board of County Commissioners, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, On Top of the World (Colen Built), Rank Quality Restaurants (McDonalds), Scott Cameron State Farm, Waffle House, Well Bilt Industries and the World Equestrian Center.
French noted that a limited number of spots are still available for businesses interested in participating. To learn more or register – or to place job orders if unable to attend – call the CareerSource CLM business development team at 800-746-9950.
After being on hold during the pandemic, the youth job fair made a strong comeback last year with nearly 120 job seekers, many of whom walked away with on-the-spot job offers or lined up subsequent interviews.
While MCPS is co-hosting the event, it is open to older youth/young adults from Citrus and Levy counties as well.
Attendees should bring printed copies of their resume. Proper dress will also be required of all planning to attend the job fair – no flip-flops or casual sandals, T-shirts with profane or obscene language or images, no shorts or jeans with rips or holes, or any article of clothing that is too tight, too short or revealing.
Those interested in developing or updating their resume, working on interview skills and/or receiving job fair preparation tips are encouraged to visit one of CareerSource CLM’s career centers located at 2703 NE 14th St., in Ocala; 683 S. Adolph Point, in Lecanto; and 2175 NW 11th Dr., in Chiefland.
The centers are open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and all job candidate services are available at no charge.
For more information about attending the Youth Job Fair, call 800-434-JOBS (5627) or check the calendar at careersourceclm.com.
