OCALA, Fla. (April 24, 2019) – CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion has teamed up with Marion County Public Schools to host the sixth annual Youth Job Fair on Wednesday, May 15 at the Hilton Ocala.

Exclusively for 16-to-24-year olds, this free event is ideal for older youth/young adults seeking full or part-time employment, whether permanent, temporary or just for the summer. The job fair takes place in two sessions:

– High school seniors from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
– All other youth/young adults, ages 16 to 24, from 3:30-5 p.m.

To date, the following businesses are scheduled to attend: AutoZone, CareerSource CLM, Chariot Eagle, Chick-fil-A, Custom Window Systems, Eckerd Connects Workforce Development, Episcopal Children’s Services, Gulf Mechanical Contractors, Hilton Ocala, L&N Truck Service, Lockheed Martin, Marion County Board of County Commissioners, Marion County Public Schools – Extended Day, Marion County School Board, Pacific Arches (McDonald’s), R&L Global Logistics, Raney’s and United Plastic Fabricating.

Brenda Chrisman, career center and business services officer for CareerSource CLM, said the job fair is scheduled for mid-May so that high school seniors can take advantage of the opportunity before graduating.

High school seniors planning to attend at 2:30 p.m. must register beforehand at http://bit.ly/2019YouthJobFair. Registration is not necessary for all others.

“We are so grateful to be able to partner this year with Marion County Public Schools,” Chrisman said. “This truly is a remarkable opportunity for older youth and young adults. If you are 16 to 24, eager to earn a paycheck but don’t know where to start, this job fair is the place to be.”

Mark Vianello, executive director of Career and Technical Education for MCPS, said that “This job fair is all about helping our students connect their job skills to today’s employers in relevant ways. Putting them face to face with the person who can hire them on the spot is a powerful tool, and our students know they have to shine to earn the job offer.”

While MCPS is co-hosting the event, it is open to older youth/young adults from Citrus and Levy counties as well.

Attendees should bring printed copies of their resume and, as Vianello noted, be prepared for on-the-spot job interviews.

Proper dress will be required and all those planning to attend the job fair should come dressed to impress – no flip-flops or casual sandals, t-shirts with profane or obscene language or images, no shorts or jeans with rips or holes, or anything that is too tight, too short or revealing.

Those interested in developing or updating their resume, working on interview skills and/or receiving job fair preparation tips are encouraged to visit one of CareerSource CLM’s career centers located in Ocala, Lecanto and Chiefland. All job candidate services are available at no charge.
