OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 9, 2017) – Citrus County Commissioner Jimmie T. Smith has been named chairman of the Citrus Levy Marion Regional Workforce Consortium.

Smith, of Inverness, served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2010-2016 and is a US Army veteran whose 20 years included Operation Desert Storm. He was elected to the Citrus County Board of County Commissioners in November.

The Citrus Levy Marion Regional Workforce Consortium is comprised of one County Commissioner from each of the three counties that make up the CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion workforce development area – one of 24 such areas in the CareerSource Florida network. Commissioners are chosen to serve by their respective Board Chairs for a term of one year.

In addition to Smith, commissioners Jeff Gold of the Marion County and Matt Brooks of Levy County were welcomed Monday during the Consortium’s first meeting of the new year. The Consortium meets no less than two times a year, and approves the CareerSource CLM  annual fiscal year budget, promotes CareerSource CLM services, and assists the organization in conducting its business.
