OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2021) – CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion will hold a “Paychecks for Patriots” virtual job fair on Wednesday, Nov. 10 as part of a statewide effort to connect Florida veterans with employment opportunities.

During Paychecks for Patriots, now in its ninth year, CareerSource CLM will help match veterans, service members, and military families with employers who value the knowledge, skills, and attributes attained during military service. Similar hiring events will be held throughout the month in other CareerSource Florida regions.

The free job fair takes place from 10 a.m. to noon. Veterans, service members, and military families get early access to the hiring event starting at 10 a.m. with open access to all job seekers beginning at 11 a.m. To register, go to bit.ly/paychecks4patriots2021.

Rusty Skinner, CEO of CareerSource CLM, said Paychecks for Patriots is part of an ongoing effort to “bridge the gap between veterans who are seeking jobs and businesses that are eager to hire our heroes.”

“To celebrate Veterans Day, as well as show our thanks to our vets during the month of Thanksgiving, we are happy to serve those who have served our country,” Skinner said. “Through Paychecks for Patriots, businesses will be connected with talented, well-trained veterans who can bring dedication, a special set of skills, and diversity to the workforce.”

CareerSource CLM’s Paychecks for Patriots is presented in collaboration with VetNet Ocala and Volunteers of America of Florida, and in partnership with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, the Florida National Guard, and the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

To date, participating businesses include Chariot Eagle, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, City of Ocala, CoreCivic Citrus County Detention Facility, FedEx, Florida Department of Corrections, JR Plastics, Marion County Board of County Commissioners, and Real Truck.

CareerSource CLM is using a multi-functional platform developed by recruiters that enables businesses and candidates to participate from anywhere on any device. Job seekers can visit employers from all three counties.

New this year are free workshops, co-hosted by veterans, that cover virtual job fair best practices, Zoom interview strategies, and job-specific resumes.

Sessions take place live via Zoom on Friday, Nov. 5 from 2-3 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 8 from 6-7 p.m. An in-person workshop will be held Monday, Nov. 8 from 2-4 p.m. at the CareerSource CLM Marion County Career Center, 2703 NE 14th St., in Ocala.
