OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 28, 2019) – CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion will hold three “Paychecks for Patriots” career fairs as part of a statewide effort dedicated to employing veterans.

Paychecks for Patriots events take place Thursday, Nov. 7 from 1-3:30 p.m. in the following locations:

• Citrus County Library – Lakes Region, 1511 Druid Road, in Inverness
• Levy County Career Center, 2175 NW 11th Dr., in Chiefland
• Marion County Public Library, 2720 E. Silver Springs Blvd., in Ocala

There is no charge to attend and pre-registration is not required.

The statewide initiative is designed to connect members of the military and veteran community with local jobs and career resources. Similar career fairs will be held in other workforce development regions November 4-15. Veterans Day is commemorated on November 11.

Rusty Skinner, CEO of CareerSource CLM, said Paychecks for Patriots “plans to match military and veteran candidates with unique skills to businesses that recognize the value and dedication they can bring to their teams.”

“Our goal is to continue to help make Florida the most veteran-friendly state in the nation,” Skinner said. “If you are an employer with jobs to fill, we can think of no finer way to honor those who have served our country than by hiring a hero.”

To date, the following businesses plan to participate: ACME Barricades, A&M Manufacturing, AutoZone, Capital City Bank, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, Colonial Life, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Express Environmental, HCA Citrus Memorial Hospital, Marion County Board of County Commissioners, Max-Air Heating and Air Conditioning, Paradox Intellectual Properties, Plantation Inn, Senior Helper and Steve Allen Construction. Check the calendar at careersourceclm.com for updates.
In addition to CareerSource CLM, the following partners will also be on hand: Citrus County Veterans Services Office, Florida Department of Veterans Affairs, Marion County Veterans Services Office, Veterans Helping Veterans and Volunteers of America-Florida.

Skinner noted that veterans don’t need to wait to receive help updating resumes or brushing up on interview and other job-readiness skills. Veterans receive Priority of Service at all CareerSource CLM career centers. Staff assistance, resources and workshops are available at no charge at CareerSource career centers in Citrus, Levy and Marion counties.

“Stop by one of our centers if you want to get prepared for Paychecks for Patriots,” he said. “Even if you can’t attend one of the career fairs, drop in because we stand ready to serve our veterans year round.”

In addition to Paychecks for Patriots and Priority of Services, CareerSource CLM holds special hiring events. Veterans unable to attend Paychecks for Patriots can apply for available positions online at  www.employflorida.com. A special employment portal of information and resource links for Florida veterans is also available at https://veteran.employflorida.com.

Paychecks for Patriots are held in partnership with Volunteers of America-Florida, the Marion County Public Library System and Citrus County Public Libraries.
