CareerSource CLM, FDOC partner for Dec. 6 event
OCALA, Fla. (Nov. 22, 2016) – The Florida Department of Corrections is recruiting officer trainees interested in a career of courage.
A recruiting event, held by CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion, will take place Tuesday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the College of Central Florida’s Klein Conference Center, 3001 SW College Road, in Ocala.
Hour-long informational sessions will detail what it takes to secure certified and non-certified correctional officer positions at the Lowell Correctional Institution – the largest women’s correctional facility in the nation and the sixth largest prison in Florida.
Eligible candidates must be at least 19 at graduation, a United States citizen and have earned a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must also pass the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Correctional Officer Basic Abilities Test, hold a valid Florida driver license, be fingerprinted and pass a medical examination and drug.
Those selected will be paid while they train and the cost of training will also be covered. In addition, the position offers:
• Annual paid vacation, sick leave, holidays and tuition reimbursement
• Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance benefits
• $130 monthly Criminal Justice Incentive and $325 annual uniform/shoe allowance
• Starting salary (excluding benefits): $28,007 – $30,808
