OCALA, Fla. (July 22, 2022) – Anyone with a passion for caring for four-legged, winged or slithery friends is invited to attend a virtual hiring event for the University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals in Marion and Alachua counties on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Interested job candidates should register to attend at bit.ly/UFVET.

The free online hiring event is being held by CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion and its affiliate Talent Center at the College of Central Florida in partnership with CareerSource North Central Florida.

“Because UF Veterinary Hospitals and their satellite clinics span multiple locations in two counties, we thought a virtual hiring event would be the most convenient way to connect interested job candidates with hiring managers,” said Andrea Abrams, manager of the Talent Center.

Abrams said the event offers candidates the opportunity to explore career opportunities at UF Pet Emergency Treatment Services (PETS) in Ocala as well as at the new 40,000-square-foot UF Veterinary Hospital at World Equestrian Center and small, large and equestrian facilities at UF in Gainesville.

Full- and part-time positions include veterinarian technicians, assistants, client service representatives, veterinarians and more. Several of the positions do not require special degrees or certifications.

“We’re using a tried-and-true, user-friendly virtual platform that got a workout during the height of the pandemic,” Abrams said, adding that the online event offers applicants a one-on-one experience, including video interviews.

Kelly Rick, UF Veterinary Hospital manager for equine and large animals, said that “we want to grow your abilities. We want to grow your skills … Our goal is to help promote you in your career.”

Rick, who started at UF Veterinary Hospitals 20 years ago as a clerk, said she’s proof of that commitment.

“This organization grew my career,” she said. “It is a great place to have a career for a lifetime … We truly believe that a good employee is a great asset regardless of where you end up whether you stay within the hospital or work for the College (of Veterinary Medicine) or UF in general.”

Those attending the event will be able to upload their resume when they register. Fee-free staff assistance creating or updating a resume and brushing up interview skills, are available at CareerSource CLM’s career centers in Ocala, Lecanto and Chiefland as well as the Talent Center at CF in Ocala, and CareerSource NCFL’s career centers in Gainesville.
