OCALA, Fla. (March 13, 2020) – Due to safety concerns involving COVID-19 (coronavirus), CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion is rescheduling its annual Youth Job Fair as well as the State of the Workforce Conference.
The Youth Job Fair, held in partnership with Marion County Public Schools, was slated to take place March 31, and will be postponed until further notice.
The conference, Focusing on Your 21st Century Workforce, was set for April 23 and is now scheduled for July 23. Those who have already purchased tickets may request a refund or ask that their reservation be held.
“We regret to have to do this, but as COVID-19 spreads and health officials warn against large gatherings, we felt it prudent to postpone these events,” said Rusty Skinner, CEO of CareerSource CLM.
In terms of day-to-day operations, Skinner said the goal is to “make sure we have a dynamic and appropriate response to the risk caused from this virus and the changes that will occur over time.”
Toward that end, Skinner said CareerSource CLM is following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as state and local public health authorities in Citrus, Levy and Marion counties, and is in “constant communication with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity regarding any state-level implementation plans as directed by the Governor.”
Efforts include, but are not limited to:
• Increased cleaning and sanitation efforts in public and private areas while reinforcing healthy habits for staff, partners and customers
• Providing access to case management services via means other than in-person, such as telephone and email.
• Keeping programs and services as available as possible
“We want to make sure, to the best of our ability, that those in our communities have access to our employment and business services regardless of how this virus progresses,” Skinner said.
